LIGHTSPEED CHAMPION Dev is officially this month's hot new act. He's on this weeks NME front cover and was on Never Mind the Buzzcocks the other night. This really shows when, throughout the entire set, teenage kids go mad for the ex Test Icicles member. The show was professionally played, dealt with in a really crowd friendly way and everyone had a good time, on and off the stage. Despite this, i couldn't help but feel sorry for Dev, let alone the rest of the band. Nobody mentioned anything about the other members who played a flawless set and the biggest shock though was how uncomfortable Dev looked after the set when he was swamped by wave upon wave of kids wanting autographs, photos and intensely aggressive hugs. It took the guy 20minutes to get off of the stage. It got me thinking a bit and made me even more certain than before why i wanted to base my major 60 credit on the psychology and atmosphere of an ever changing music scene. Watch this space for relevance to this rant. |
